    QUESTIONS & ANSWERS

    Ask a Question
    • How much watts can the 5 Farad hold, I will be using I monoblock amp with 2000 watts and a 4 channel 2500 watts amp, is this going to be enough to help with my new system I'm going to put in my 2005 chevy impala.

A cap does not make watts.
It just stores power for quick hits (like big bass).

The 5-farad cap (PLCAPE50) can help a little with light dim and drops.
But your system is very big (2000W + 2500W). One cap may not be enough.

It will help some, but for best results:

Do the “Big 3” wires (alt, chassis, engine ground).

Use a strong battery and clean grounds.

Think about a second battery or a better alternator.

So yes, you can use it.
But don’t count on it to power the whole setup.

    • The led display on my capacitor stays lit and does not shut off. It stays on for days till the battery is dead.

If it is not going in to sleep ode you need to check your warranty option

    • My capacitor display will not shut off it is lit 24/7 what can I do ?

If the car is turned off the Capacitor should go to a sleep mode. If not check your warranty

    • How do you use the filament wire to charge the capacitor? Aren't you supposed to undo the ground wire to the battery? I'm going to use my regular 12 amp car battery directly to the capacitor.

Connect the ground wire to the Capacitors Negative Terminal

Place the one end of the resistor to the Positive trminal of the capacitor and the other end of the resistor powered by the Positive line from the car Battery.

Once the digital meter shows 7 to 9 volts. Take the risistor off and connect the positive wire direct to the Capacitor until it completes the charge

    • the led display on my pyle capacitor won't shut off. Can I reset it or what can I do?

LED will go to sleep mode in 10 to 15 seconds

    • Will this capacitor work on 6 volt ATV system. Actual voltage 7.2 to 7.6 volts.

    • Which side is positive and negative. Not clearly marked on my product. Thanks

the LED flash indicates the polarity of the terminals. The positive terminal has a red LED, and the negative terminal has a black LED. You can also look at the labels on the terminals, which are marked with a "+" and a "-" sign respectively.

    • The capacitor itself is wrapped in a protective plastic skin does that have to be removed before installation or does it stay on please let me know thanks

    • What is the maximum operating voltage for this unit? Is this compatible with 24 volt systems (peak voltages near 30v)?

The maximum operating voltage for the PCALPE50 is 12 volts DC. This unit is not compatible with 24 volt systems, as it will exceed the rated voltage and damage the unit

    • Can you use 1/0 wire on theee?

    • I recently installed the Pyle 5.0 Farad Digital Power Capacitor in my vehicle. Seems to be doing its job. My concern is that the LED lights are not turning off. Any suggestions or ideas on correcting that issue?

The capacitor is wired incorrectly or has a faulty ground connection. You should check the wiring diagram and make sure the capacitor is connected to the positive terminal of the battery and the amplifier, and the negative terminal is grounded to the chassis of the car.

    • This capacitor is draining my battery when the car is off. I can here it beeping from outside the car as the voltage drops from killing my battery. How do I fix this?

You can Try connecting through the ACC so that whenever the Key is off poawer is also off on the Cap

    Not a good product

"It looks cool when you get it but it as soon as I put it in and turned my car on it blew up. This black liquid was shooting out and smelt really bad. I do not recommend this"

    Jayalakshmi M. (1/5)

Cap was about to blow up!!!!!

"I installed this in my 2000 ford ranger watched a video and as soon as I plugged it in and tried charging it the cap started beeping and getting very hot this was my first sign that there was a problem, though didn't think much and just wanted to test it out. I then connected my fuse and turned on my car and as soon as everything was booted up and running I saw that the glass looked foggy and I could smell the cap burning. I immediately went to shut off my fuse and I got to it in time, but when I tried to pull the cap out it was molten hot and my leads were semi melted to it. I pulled the connectors off and sat it on my driveway for a few minutes to cool off yet it was still molten when I went to move it."

    Andrew K. (1/5)

    Waste of money

"I tested it for a month. If anything, it made things worse and killed my battery. Once removed from my system, the battery has not died since."

    Briana K. (1/5)

    Capacitor

"I had a guy install an audio battery for my 2,800 watt amplifier and when he hooked it all up the capacitor blew up, spraying very stinky gas. It worked fine before he installed my XS audio battery rated at 2000/3000 rms."

    Sam B. (3/5)

    Would NOT Buy again

"I ordered this product in warky November and now early january. It has stopped working and causing sound system to stop working."

    Scott M. (1/5)

Capacitor works, mounts don't fit correctly with provided screws

"Capacitor works as advertised, but the mounts are flimsy and fit poorly. I had to use my own screws, the ones provided were too short to hold the two pieces together."

    Santhosh K. (4/5)

    Junk

"I bought it back in November kept it in the package in my house until yesterday installed all new wiring all new subs a new and a new amp everything was going great until I took the capacitor out of a package hooked it up work for about 10 minutes then I saw moisture and fogginess in the white clear display area check the positive and negative wires going to the capacitor they were cold not warm not hot nothing next thing I know the damn thing is blows a whistling sound smoke everywhere and fluid pouring out of it it took 25 minutes with all four of my doors open for the smoke to clear very unhappy with this product that almost cost me my vehicle because of it took my smaller capacitor hook that up not a single problem still not a problem after a day of use on the smaller capacitor all I'm going to say is if you want your vehicle to catch on fire buy this product sincerely pissed off customer"

    Camille T. (1/5)

    Doesn't hold a charge

"Doesn't hold a charge. Doesn't shut off when car is off. Still in return eligible but won't let me continue."

    Marcelo P. (1/5)

    Good and Bad with this

"it offers improved energy for a sound system making it ideal for car audio. It can optimize power factor correction and reduce energy waste, while offering remote diagnostics and flexibility. However, its if you battery dies or goes out it is a pain in the butt to jump your vehicle."

    Peggy S. (4/5)

    Glad I brought this compositor

"I've had this on my car for a couple months now. Gotta say this thing works great. It helps a lot. I maybe just have a little dimming when it's really loud like extra loud(a lot of bass)But for the most part it keeps the lights from dimming . The connector's are good but delicate. And the light on my compasitor ,staying lit 2/7. Not sure if that's normal, but it doesn't eat my battery with the light from the compasitor on all the time. Follow directions on the package use the resistor for first charge before connecting"
