    • I need a wiring diagram for this housing. Wire colors do not match

That mismatch can definitely throw you for a loop! What is happening here is that the PLMRCW3 housing acts as a universal middleman. It uses the standard EIA (Electronics Industries Association) color code format, but your actual aftermarket marine radio likely has its own unique factory harness plug with entirely different colors.

To wire them together, ignore what your radio's manual says about housing connections and focus solely on matching the function of the housing's pigtail wires to the function of your radio's wires.

Here is the exact master wiring schematic for the PLMRCW3 housing's pre-wired harness:

      1. Power & Accessories (3 Wires)

      • Red: +12V Accessory / Ignition (Switched power via key or toggle switch)

      • Yellow: +12V Constant / Battery (Directly to the battery for station memory)

      • Black: Ground / Negative (-)

      • Blue: +12V Remote Turn-On Trigger (Note: This sends a turn-on signal to external marine amplifiers or power antennas if you have them).

      2. Speaker Output Array (8 Wires)

The solid colors are the Positive (+) leads, and the matching colors with the black racing stripe are the Negative (-) leads.

      • White: Left Front (+)

      • White with Black Stripe: Left Front (-)

      • Gray: Right Front (+)

      • Gray with Black Stripe: Right Front (-)

      • Green: Left Rear (+)

      • Green with Black Stripe: Left Rear (-)

      • Purple: Right Rear (+)

      • Purple with Black Stripe: Right Rear (-)

Installation Tip: Look at the manual for your specific radio head unit to find its color functions. Splice your radio's "Constant Power" wire to the housing's Yellow wire, your radio's "Left Front Positive" to the housing's White wire, and so on. Do not splice purely by matching color-to-color if your radio layout differs!
