About this item

Product Highlights
The PMA85 is a digital anemometer and thermometer from Pyle. Perfect for sailors, surfers, hang-gliders, kite-fliers — any activity where keeping track of the wind speed and direction is important. The PMA85 can display the maximum, average, and current air velocity. This meter is small, portable, and measures wind speed in ft/min, m/sec, MPH, km/hr, knots, and using the Beaufort wind scale. It also has a built-in thermometer which can measure the temperature in both Fahrenheit and Celsius units. Neckband accessory included. LCD backlight means you can use this meter in the dark without issues. A 3V lithium battery is included.

Questions & Answers

QUESTIONS & ANSWERS

Ask a Question
  • Which side should the fan face? There is a flat side and a outward concave.

For the PMA85 cooling fan, the concave (cupped) side typically faces inward toward the amplifier, while the flatter side faces outward. This allows the fan to pull or push air through the unit as designed.

If you're replacing the fan, match the orientation of the original fan or the airflow arrow marked on the fan housing.

  • There is a flat side and a slight outward concave on the fan. Which side should be facing the wind?

The slightly concave (cupped) side of the fan should face the airflow/wind direction. In other words, the air exits from the concave side, while the flatter side is the intake side.

For the PMA85, this means the concave side should face the direction you want the air to blow toward (typically outward from the amplifier if it is exhausting hot air).

  • How to recall max wind speed in pma85? How to prevent the unit turning off automatically? I want to check wind speed overnight. Thanks,

The PMA85 does not have a documented max-wind-speed memory/recall function, and the auto power-off feature cannot typically be disabled. The unit is designed to shut off automatically after a period of inactivity to conserve battery power.

For overnight wind monitoring, you may need a weather meter that specifically supports data logging or max/min memory functions.
