is there a way to position this boom arm in such a way that the springs don't pull it out of position. I've found the springs to be a real pain thats
Yes, but there’s a bit of a limitation with that model.
The PMKSH01 boom arm relies on spring tension for counterbalance, so there’s no true “lock it anywhere” position. If the springs are pulling it out of place, it usually means the arm is either slightly overextended for the weight on it or the tension knobs aren’t tightened enough to match your mic weight.
What you can do is reduce the spring tension by adjusting the joints and tightening the friction knobs more than you normally would, especially at the base and mid-arm joint. Also, keeping the mic closer to the pivot point instead of fully extended helps a lot because the springs won’t have to fight as much leverage.
If it still keeps drifting even after tightening, that usually means the mic is either too light or too heavy for the default spring balance, and in that case adding a small counterweight or repositioning the mount closer to the desk edge is the most practical fix.
